Prof. em. Volker Böhm, Ph.D.
Prof. Volker Böhm, obtained a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California in Berkeley in 1972. Before joining the faculty of Bielefeld University in 1994, he taught at CORE, Université Catholique de Louvain, at Université Libre de Bruxelles, and at the University of Mannheim. Prof. Böhm has held visiting positions at various international universities and is associate editor of several scientific journals.
Research Interests: Economic Theory in the areas Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, in particular Stochastic Dynamic Economic Theory with applications mainly in Business Cycle Theory, Growth Theory, and Financial Market Theory
Prof. Dr. Christiane Clemens

Prof. Dr. Christiane Clemens held assistant and associate professor positions at the Universities of Hannover, Magdeburg and Hamburg and served as visiting professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich (ETH) and visiting associate professor at the University of Washington, Seattle. She was appointed to the Chair of Quantitative Macroeconomics at Bielefeld University effective from April, 2010.

Prof. Dr. Herbert Dawid (BiGSEM chairman)

Prof. Dr. Herbert Dawid obtained his doctoral degree at the Vienna University of Technology. He held assistant and associate professor positions at the University of Vienna and was an associate professor at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles before coming to Bielefeld in 2003. Prof. Dawid has published numerous articles in internationally renowned scientific journals, has obtained several research awards and is currently editor of the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control and on the editorial board of several other international journals.

Prof. Dr. Bernhard Eckwert

After completing his doctoral studies in 1984, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Eckwert was part of the economics faculty of the University of Augsburg for several years. From 1993 until he joined Bielefeld University in 2002, he held a position as professor at the Technical University of Chemnitz. Prof. Eckwert is a frequent visitor to various international universities and research institutes. In recent years, his research activities have focused on the economics of information, risk sharing, and growth.

Prof. Dr. Alfred Greiner

In 1993, Prof. Dr. Alfred Greiner successfully completed his doctoral studies with a dissertation on a topic in innovation economics. For several years, he was a faculty member of the University of Augsburg and visiting research fellow at the New School for Social Research, New York. Since 2000, Prof. Greiner has held a position as professor for economic policy at Bielefeld University. He is a member of the International Institute of Public Finance.

J.-Prof. Dr. Dr. Frederik Herzberg

Jun.-Prof. Dr. Dr. Frederik Herzberg obtained his doctorates from Bonn (in Probability Theory) and Oxford (in Mathematical Finance). Following post-doctoral research at Bonn, he came to Bielefeld as an assistant professor at the Institute of Mathematical Economics in 2007. Since then, grants from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Research Foundation (DFG) have allowed him to spend one semester each at the University of California, Berkeley and Princeton University. His research interests include probability theory and mathematical logic with a view towards applications in the mathematical social sciences, in particular in mathematical finance, equilibrium theory, social choice theory, and formal epistemology.

Prof. Christoph Kuzmics, Ph.D.
Prof. Kuzmics obtained a Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge, UK, in 2004 with a thesis on evolutionary game theory and aggregation of risk-preferences. From September 2003 to March 2011 he was Assistant Professor at the department of Managerial Economics and Decision Sciences (MEDS) at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, and, since April 2011, is Professor of Economic Theory at the Institute of Mathematical Economics (IMW) at the University of Bielefeld. Prof. Kuzmics is associate editor of the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization and has published various articles in major economic journals.

Prof. Dr. Frank Riedel

Prof. Riedel obtained a Ph.D. at Humboldt University in 1998. The doctoral thesis won the Humboldt prize. Afterwards, he was Assistant Professor at Humboldt University until 2002, when he went to UC Berkeley as a Postdoc. He then was Feodor-Lynen-Fellow at Stanford University before becoming Professor at Bonn University. He joined the Institute of Mathematical Economics in 2007. His coauthors include Mathematicians, Biologists, and Linguists. Prof. Riedel has published articles in renowned journals in Economics, Mathematics, and Biology.

Prof. em. Dr. Joachim Rosenmüller

Prof. Dr. Joachim Rosenmüller has been a member of the Institute of Mathematical Economics since 1978. He was the institute's director from 1984 to 2002. Before being appointed full professor at the University of Karlsruhe in 1972, Prof. Rosenmüller was assistant professor at the University of Aarhus, the University of Minnesota, and the University of British Columbia. He is associate editor of numerous international scientific journals and author of several books on game theory.

Dr. Jan-Henrik Steg
Prof. Dr. Walter Trockel

Prof. Dr. Walter Trockel earned his doctorate under the supervision of Werner Hildenbrand at Bonn University. Since 1985, Prof. Trockel has held the former chair of Reinhard Selten at the Institute of Mathematical Economics, whose director he has been since 2002. He is managing editor of the Springer Lecture Notes in Economics and Mathematical Systems and a member of the standing committee of the European Workshop on General Equilibrium Theory. In addition, Prof. Trockel supervises several student exchange programs.

Prof. Dr. Gerald Willmann
Gerald Willmann obtained a PhD in economics from Stanford University in 2000. Before coming to the University of Bielefeld, he was junior faculty at the University of Kiel and associate professor at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.

Dr. Anna Zaharieva

Dr. Anna Zaharieva obtained her doctorate in Quantitative Economics at the University of Konstanz in the year 2010. Earlier in 2008 she had completed her doctoral studies in Mathematical Finance at the Russian Plekhanov Academy of Economics. In the year 2010 she was appointed as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Bielefeld.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Braun

Prof. Dr. Thomas Braun acquired a deep knowledge in economics and business administration by majoring in both subjects. He was a member of the Universities of Mainz, Bonn, Frankfurt, and Passau and completed his dissertation on risk management with options and futures at the University of Passau in 1989. In 1997, Prof. Braun was appointed professor at Bielefeld University. His teaching focuses mainly on lectures and seminars in finance.
Research Interests: Asset Management, Risk Management, Information-Economic Aspects of Financing Decisions, Capital Market Theory, Real Options.
Prof. Dr. Reinhold Decker

Prof. Dr. Reinhold Decker majored in industrial engineering with specializations in operations research and computer science. He completed his doctoral studies with a thesis on the "Analysis and simulation of buying behavior in consumer goods markets" at the University of Karlsruhe in 1993. Prof. Decker was a faculty member in Karlsruhe and visiting professor at the University of Vienna before joining the Department of Economics and Business Administration in 1997. He is actively involved in several research and technology transfer activities at Bielefeld University.

Prof. Dr. Rolf König

Prof. Dr. Rolf König majored in mathematics and computer science and completed his doctoral studies in 1989 at the University of Bonn. He was a faculty member at the University of Augsburg and appointed professor at Bielefeld University in 1995. Prof. König is the author of numerous articles and several books.

Prof. Dr. Christian Stummer
Prof. Dr. Christian Stummer received his doctoral degree from the University of Vienna where he held the position of an associate professor before joining Bielefeld University in 2010. He also served as the head of a research group at the Electronic Commerce Competence Center in Vienna and made professional experiences as a visiting professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio. His research has been widely published in various internationally renowned scientific journals mostly from the fields of Business Administration, Information Technology, and/or Operations Research.

Prof.em. Dr. Joachim Frohn

Prof. Dr. Joachim Frohn was professor of Econometrics at FU Berlin; he joined the faculty in Bielefeld as professor of Statistics and Econometrics in 1974. Prof. Frohn was President of the German Statistical Society and Dean and President of the China-Europe-International-Business-School (CEIBS) in Shanghai. He is a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and Director of the Center of Interdisciplinary Research at Bielefeld.

Prof. Dr. Harry Haupt
In 2007, Prof. Dr. Harry Haupt was appointed professor of Econometrics and Statistics in Bielefeld. He earned a doctoral degree in 2002 at the University of Regensburg, where he also obtained the University award for his Habilitation in Econometrics and Statistics in 2006. Parallel to his university career Prof. Haupt has several years of working experience as a senior researcher and managing partner in the statistical consulting industry.
Research Interests: Parametric regression (classical econometric theory), semi- and nonparametric regression (quantile regression, nonlinear regression, smoothing), real life applications
