October 28: Time Management Workshop Review

BiGSEM students Michael Günther and Florian Gauer who took part in the workshop "Time management in doctoral research - Aligning time and goals" were highly satisfied:

"Part time work, professional development, private arrangements and not least the thesis: Time pressure results in many things only being half done. In the end there is not enough time for the important tasks and you are left with the uncomfortable feeling of again not having managed everything.

In order to confront these challenges, Mrs. Anna Royon-Weigelt from golin wissenschaftsmanagement, Hamburg hosted a workshop on time-management on October 4, 2012. We discussed useful tools like the Eisenhower diagramme, backward planning and meeting techniques. Furthermore we learned about the differences between efficiency and effectiveness and applied the theories in several role plays.

Equipped with these learnings we feel well prepared to meet the challenges of daily short-term planning and long-term goals such as successfully completing the PhD program."
